GET TO KNOW
Welcome to Lauren Frost Softball!
Thank you for visiting and for your interest in Lauren Frost Softball! I’m excited to share my journey with you and the passion that drives my commitment to creating more opportunities for young athletes here in Alaska.
I was raised in Eagle River, Alaska, by a family rooted in sports—primarily baseball. My love of baseball led me to play entirely through high school, which, when coupled with being from Alaska, resulted in my path to collegiate softball being anything but traditional. With limited access to recruiting events, I used online recruiting services and video to showcase my skills and keep costs manageable. This ultimately led me to Stanford University, where I was fortunate to play softball for four years, and earn my degree in mechanical engineering as part of the class of 2019.
I had always assumed I’d get into coaching someday, but it wasn’t until after college that I realized how much I wanted to give back to the community that helped shape me. I knew firsthand the challenges Alaskan athletes face—limited exposure, difficult recruiting processes, and indoor winter training in facilities not made for baseball and softball. Growing up, I spent countless hours throwing in warehouses and using a batting cage my family set up in our garage just to stay sharp for the short summer season. Prior to my recruiting visits during high school, I had never actually experienced college softball in person. I was on a journey to become a college softball player, but I didn’t have a clear picture of everything that actually entailed.
Reflecting on these experiences, I realized that I wanted to help bridge this gap for future generations of local softball players. I now know what it means to play college softball, and I now know the value that lies in experiencing it, in some capacity, in person. Thus, Mega Camp was born. Mega Camp is a two-day youth softball skills camp where players get the chance to learn from me and my former Stanford teammates— right here in Alaska. There’s no need for expensive out-of-state travel; for the first time, these high-level coaches and athletes are available right in our own backyard.
Through Lauren Frost Softball, Mega Camp, and now Mini Clinics, my goal is to provide athletes of all ages and abilities with the tools, resources, and environment needed to succeed. For those young players wanting to play collegiately, I want to create opportunities for them to grow and to showcase their talents without the barriers of distance or cost. I’m excited to continue making a difference and to help guide the next generation of Alaska’s softball stars!
Thank you for being a part of this journey. I look forward to working with you and your athlete!
Warmly,
Lauren Frost
